Yashoda Menaria's story

~Patient's daughter speaking

Your name?

Sita Menaria.

What is your relation with the patient?

My mom; she has cervical cancer.

When did you find out?

What did you do first after finding out?

We actually didn't know about it until we went to the doctor for a urine problem that she had. There we found out about this for the first time.

So what treatment is currently going on?

She is having a treatment in urology, along with chemo and radiation.

So besides the treatment, how are you and your family helping her?

Besides that we have made a full diet plan for her, we give her juice every 2 hours and other things. She [my mother] also has some blood problem so we give her beetroot for that too.

And who pays for the treatment?

We are registered in RGHS [Rajasthan Government Health Scheme], so the government pays for it.

And how do you all feel mentionally and emotionally? Meaning, you must've been uneasy at first...

Yes, in the beginning [when diagnosed] we felt worried; there was no problem until now and we had done a checkup only 2 years ago, nothing had come up. So we suddenly felt 'how did this happen so suddenly'... we did some tests recently and now they show a good recovery happening. Now we all feel okay.

We want to use personal experience and gathered knowledge about cancer to build a platform that help others.
