About Us

My name is Shourya Vyas and in the photo with me is my mom, Shaloo Malani.

In December 2022, my mother had a biopsy and other tests. In January 2023, when the biopsy results came back, we found out that she had cancer.

When we found out, we thought about having my mom's sister come to the United States, but due to VISA issues, it was impossible for anyone to come from India. So, Mom immediately went to India so that she could be with her family for treatment. My dad and I had to stay in

the U.S. for a month and a half and pack everything up. We put all our belongings in storage, and I even had to drop out of school (I was in eighth grade at the time). I was very flabbergasted during that time as our circumstances were becoming very unexpected. We had no idea when we would be back, so we had to arrange everything before we left.

Then we went to India at the end of February. My mom's treatment had already begun. She had first gotten advice from Dr. Narendra Rathore [Radiation Oncologist] at RNT Hospital in Udaipur, Rajasthan. Based on that, she then did her surgery from HCG Cancer Center, Ahmedabad under Dr. D. G. Vijay [Surgical Oncologist]; then had chemotherapy at Geetanjali Hospital, Udaipur under Dr. Ankit Agarwal [Medical Oncologist]. My aunt and these doctors were my mom's "saviors" and we were very blessed to have them. During mom's treatment, at home all of us would help her with one thing or another. It was a difficult time, but with the support of my dad's office colleagues, my school, and all of our family and friends, we were able to get through it. However, the biggest thing was my mother's strength, determination, and willpower. It was because of her persistent efforts that she was able to fight cancer and win.

We came back to the US in July 2023 -- just before the start of school. It's been a year since her therapy ended; her recovery is going well.

Our hope is that we can use this website to help others so that they too can overcome cancer.
