Dinesh Kumar Meena's story
~Patient themselves speaking
What is your name?
Dinesh Kumar Meena.
What type of cancer do you have?
At first, I felt a lump in my stomach. Gradually, it kept growing larger. I consulted a doctor, but at that time it wasn’t clear what the illness was. Later, I came back here and met another doctor who conducted a test. That test revealed that the lump was cancerous. Then treatment was started. Gradually, I started feeling better, and the entire treatment was completed. This all happened around three to four years ago.
Then recently, I developed another lump near the side of my mouth. I informed the doctor that the lump had returned, and he said to restart the treatment. So now I take chemotherapy medication daily.
Are you paying for the treatment yourself, or is the government covering the expenses?
The government covers the expenses through the Bhamashah card.
Are you also doing any Ayurvedic or home remedies?
No, I’m only following the doctor’s prescribed treatment.
How did you feel when you first found out you had cancer?
I felt a bit anxious… I thought, this is a serious disease, so who knows what might happen. But then the doctor assured me that there was nothing to worry about and that I would recover. He told me not to stress.
What advice would you give to people who have just been diagnosed with cancer?
I would say that they should meet the doctor on time, not delay, and follow the doctor’s advice exactly. Gradually, they will recover.
